Summary of thesis

This project studies the well-preserved Pyrenean Foreland basin to quantify the chemical weathering evolution in the sediment routing system. We use clay mineralogy with stable and radiogenic isotopes in three key sections of the sediment routing system. Namely, we study the combined Sm-Nd and Lu-Hf isotopic systems as provenance and chemical weathering proxies, together with lithium, oxygen, and hydrogen stable isotopes as chemical weathering and paleoclimatic proxies.
