10th Journée Magmatique

The 10th Journée Magmatique will be organized in Geneva on the afternoon of the 20th of December and all day on the 21st. This unusually long program reflects the conjunction of several unique factors.

The first of these is that we want to recognize the positive evolution of the Swiss magmatic community during the past decade by having an invitational symposium on the 20th in which graduates of the Swiss system who have nucleated or established successful careers in igneous petrology, geochemistry, or volcanology will give keynote lectures.

The second is that the 10th JM will be integrated this year into the EDSM, which will provide a generous subsidy.

The third is that we also would like to use this opportunity to mark the ‘installations’ of our two new colleagues/mentors, Professor Costanza Bonadonna (UNIGE) and Professor Othmar Müntener (UNIL). We hope that all the members of the Swiss magmatic community will join us in enthusiastically celebrating this special occasion.

More information about rooms and times will follow later, but we are planning a banquet for Wednesday evening and will try to have a buffet lunch on Thursday. The program will be distributed shortly after the registration deadline (dec 8th) with details about travel, hotel rooms, etc.
